All Quiet on the Western Front should be required reading for everyone; especially any congressmen, politicians, government bureaucrats, or military officers. If you've never read it, its the story of some young German soldiers in the trenches in World War I, its about the brotherhood of soldiers, the gore and futility of war, and the arrogance and egotism of military and political leaders who bring countries into wars and send young men to their deaths.
